In a small village, 13-year-old Rekha once faced a reality that remains invisible to many. Like countless adolescent girls, her understanding of menstruation was shaped by silence, stigma, and misinformation. The lack of access to safe menstrual pads and awareness meant missed school days, discomfort, and a growing sense of hesitation around her own body.
When Project TARINI reached her school, it brought more than just awareness — it brought a shift in mindset. Through interactive sessions and open conversations, Rekha was introduced to the basics of menstrual health, hygiene practices, and the importance of understanding her own body. The “Know Your Pad” approach helped her make informed choices about safe and sustainable menstrual products, while also addressing responsible disposal and environmental care.
For the first time, Rekha felt confident asking questions — breaking through years of silence. With access to menstrual hygiene resources and a supportive environment, she no longer misses school during her cycle. Today, she participates actively in class and has even become a peer advocate, encouraging other girls to speak openly and take charge of their health.
Rekha’s journey reflects a deeper transformation — where awareness leads to confidence, dignity replaces stigma, and informed choices create lasting change. Through Project TARINI, ENLIFT Foundation is not just addressing period poverty, it is building a movement of empowered young women who understand their bodies, make sustainable choices, and step forward with confidence.
As a teacher in a rural school, Arunaben had long observed a pattern she couldn’t ignore — girls missing classes every month, becoming withdrawn, and gradually losing confidence. Conversations around menstruation were avoided, both in classrooms and at home, leaving students to navigate confusion and discomfort in silence.
The introduction of Project TARINI marked a turning point. Through structured awareness sessions and the “Know Your Pad” approach, Aruna found herself equipped with the knowledge and tools to address menstrual health openly and sensitively. What was once an uncomfortable topic gradually became a part of everyday learning.
Today, her classroom reflects a shift — girls ask questions without hesitation, attendance during menstrual cycles has improved, and a sense of confidence is visible. As an educator, Aruna now plays a more empowered role, not just in teaching, but in shaping awareness, dignity, and well-being among her students.
For her, TARINI is not just a program — it is an enabler of safe, informed, and inclusive learning environments.
In the quiet, forested landscape of Dang, Gujarat, where life moves to the rhythm of seasons and survival, 16-year-old Kavita grew up believing that her future was already decided. For generations, the women in her family followed a singular, unspoken path: childhood shaped by domestic labor, and a life defined by early marriage.
To Kavita, “career” was a foreign word. Education was merely a temporary phase before the inevitable weight of tradition took over. Shyness was her shield, and silence was her response to questions about her future. Her world was small not by choice, but by circumstance.
The narrative began to shift when ENLIFT Foundation introduced its Career Counselling and Mentorship Programme in her school. What started as a simple awareness session soon became a window to a world Kavita had never imagined. Through interactive discussions, mentorship, and exposure to different career pathways, she began to understand her own potential. For the first time, someone asked her what she wanted to become, and stayed long enough to help her find the answer.
With guidance and encouragement, Kavita started asking questions, exploring opportunities, and believing that her future could be shaped by her choices. The change in Kavita was profound. The girl who once lowered her eyes when speaking of the future now speaks with the steady voice of an informed leader. Through ENLIFT’s intervention, Kavita gained more than just information — she gained the dignity of choice.
Today, Kavita dreams of pursuing higher education and building a career that allows her to support her family and inspire other girls in her community. She walks into her classroom not just as a student, but as someone who understands her worth and her possibilities.
Her journey is a reminder that awareness is the first step towards transformation. Through initiatives like this, ENLIFT Foundation is not just guiding individual journeys — it is igniting a generational shift, where informed choices replace limitations, and empowered dreams pave the way for lasting change.
